Each October the Kentucky Arts Council coordinates the presentation of the Governor’s Awards in the Arts, which recognize individuals and organizations who have made extraordinary and significant contributions to the arts in Kentucky. On October 20th our very own Steven Curtis Chapman was given the National Award for the 2011 Governor's Award in the Arts. He now shares the honor with previous recipients such as Rosemary and George Clooney, the Judd Family, Ricky Skaggs and more. Because Steven was away on tour his mother, Judy Chapman, went to Frankfort to accept the award from Governor Steve Bashear on his behalf. It was a great day full of inspiring achievements made by all.
